Joan M. (Mount) Gormley

Joan M. Gormley (nee Mount) – Born Oct. 10, 1931. Joined her loving husband of 65 years, Joe, in Heaven on Nov. 11, 2023, at the age of 92. Survived by her children, Joni King, Judy Culbertson, Joe (Tracy) Gormley, Chuck (Denise) Gormley, Tom (Mary) Gormley, Janet (Mick) Scully, her two sisters, Betty (John) Kane and Regina (Charlie) Mahon, her 23 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Marie, brothers Stan (Eileen) Mount and Joe (Dolly) Mount, Sister Marie Mount, IHM, and son-in-law, Dutch Culbertson.

Originally from Saint Frances de Sales parish, Joan was a 1949 graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls. She and Joe raised their family of six children on Lafayette Avenue in Collingdale, PA. She was a founding member of St. Joseph’s Mothers Club and supported the many activities of her husband, children, and grandchildren. Joan enjoyed summers in Ocean City, greeting guests at Bob’s Grille on the boardwalk, and her smile could light up a room. She loved music, dancing, and parades, and was proud of her Irish heritage and South Philly roots. Above all else, she loved family gatherings and hosting dinners on holidays and throughout the year.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet family on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 5-7:30 pm, at Logan Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd, Broomall, PA 19008, and on Monday, Nov. 20 at 9:30 am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380, followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
