Jerome A. Johnson, a beacon of joy and creativity, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 72. Born on May 19, 1952, in Detroit, MI, to the late Johnnie and Ann (nee Davis) Johnson, Jerome led a life marked by intelligence, compassion, and a spirited nature that left an indelible impact on everyone he met.
Jerome grew up in a bustling household alongside his siblings, the late Clarence, Martin, and Gerald Johnson, and sisters, the late Joanne DeMillo and ShirleyAnn Winfield. A cherished uncle, he will be profoundly missed by his nieces, Nikki Johnson-Alfano and her husband, Gaetan Alfano, Angela Williams, and nephew Michael Gibbs. Jerome was predeceased by his nephew, the late Michael Johnson, and their memories together will be treasured forever.
A proud alumnus of the Ohio Institute of Technology, Jerome's sharp intellect led him to a successful career as a Systems Analyst. His professional journey was not just a testament to his intelligence but also to his ability to connect with colleagues and contribute meaningfully to every project he undertook.
Jerome's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were rich. Known for being smart and fun, he had a compassionate heart that extended to his friends, family, and even strangers. Jerome was an exceptional cook, and his handmade chocolates were renowned as the best in any gathering. His culinary talents were just one of the many ways he expressed his love and creativity.
A man who brought life to every party, Jerome never found a dance floor he didn't adore. His spirited dance moves and infectious laughter could light up the darkest of rooms. Those who danced alongside him will fondly recall the happiness and energy he exuded.
Having lived for over three decades in Lompoc, California, Jerome's life on the West Coast was filled with sunshine, friendships, and community involvement. It was here that he honed his skills as a chocolatier and where his home became a hub of warmth and hospitality. In 2018, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he quickly became a beloved member of his new community, continuing to spread his zest for life and love for celebration.
Jerome's personality was a rare blend of intelligence, creativity, and spirit. He approached life with a sense of wonder and excitement that inspired those around him to see the world through his eyes. His conversations were not only insightful but also filled with wit and wisdom.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30am in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 242 S. 20th St., Philadelphia, PA 19103. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am and will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/@st.patrickchurchphiladelph4796/streams. Burial will be at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
