Jennifer Ransing Obituary

Jennifer Ransing, 56, of Parkesburg, PA passed away peacefully at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania(HUP) on January 9, 2026, after a three-year battle with cancer. (HGBCL)

She is survived by her husband of 25 years Robert (Bob) Borden Jr., 54, her son Liam, 18, her sister Amy (David, nephew Colin) and her father, William Ransing Jr.

She was predeceased by her beloved mother Barbara Ransing in 2020.

Jen was born on February 27, 1969, and was raised in Glenolden, Delaware County, PA. She attended Cardinal O’Hara High School(1987) followed by West Chester University. It was during this time that her family moved to Downingtown, PA in Chester County.

In 1991 Jen began her career of “helping people”. She worked for nearly 25 years at ReMed, a traumatic brain injury rehab located in the Paoli/Malvern area. There she touched and made an impact on countless lives of both the residents that she assisted and staff. Jen also worked at Sunrise Senior Living in Paoli for several years as well as Chamberlain Chiropractic.

In 1997 Jennifer met her future husband Bob at ReMed and they married three years later on October 29, 2000. After briefly living in Downingtown PA, they settled in their current home in Parkesburg in 2004.

2007 brought Jennifer and Bob their “Miracle”, son Liam. Liam was the greatest joy of Jennifer’s life. Jen was meant to be a mom, and she was a great one. She was involved in so many of Liam‘s activities during his younger years, both inside and outside of school. She read book after book to him and sang him to bed every night. Throughout the years, she was Liam‘s biggest supporter and proudest cheerleader. She was a fierce protector and advocate for him. She helped mold him into the wonderful, brave, and beautiful young man he is today.

Aside from Liam, the biggest gift Jen gave to the world was her example of “how to love”. Anyone who has ever interacted with Jen whether just briefly or long-term knew and could feel how big Jen‘s heart was. She emanated love in all directions and towards EVERYONE. Her heart knew no bounds. It was expansive. She touched so many people’s lives in both big and small ways in her 56 years here.

Jen was also passionate about and loved cooking, flowers and plants, gardening, and going to the beach, which was her happy place.(Avalon, NJ)… oh and I can’t forget her dog Jake and her love of everything frogs!!!

Jen had a tremendous love for her family.  Her sister Amy(Dave) and nephew Colin, her father Bill, and dear mother Barbara. Over the years, she carried on many family traditions from her youth with them like the annual Christmas tree hunt, family holiday dinners, and yearly summer beach vacations.

Jen also played a huge role in caring for her mother Barbara in the last years of her mother’s life, being her primary care caretaker at Jen’s home in Parkesburg until she passed away in October 2020.

Time spent with her extended family was very important and meaningful to Jen as well. She loved being with her grandparents and all of her many aunts, uncles, cousins as well as going to gatherings with Bob’s family. His parents, Bob and Judy, sister Valerie and her nephew and niece, Eddie and Ellayna and his extended family also held a place in Jen‘s heart. Family was so important to her.

Jen had a deep love and commitment to her friends too and enjoyed any chance she had to spend time with them.

In early 2023 Jen was diagnosed with cancer. Originally it was a slow growing cancer, called follicular lymphoma, but unfortunately it transformed months later into a high-grade B Cell lymphoma(“double hit” HGBCL).

During her cancer journey Jen received multiple modes of treatment, including intense chemotherapy, multiple rounds of radiation, Car-T Cell Immunotherapy and a clinical trial involving bispecific antibodies. Each treatment resulted in some success and brief remissions, but ultimately the cancer kept coming back. During every step, Jen met the challenge head on with courage, resilience and love. She was a true warrior.

Unfortunately, after three years of her battle, serious health problems arose and brought Jen‘s cancer journey to an end.

Jennifer and her family want to thank so many people for their love, support and prayers over these last three years. She and we couldn’t have done it without you. You truly helped carry us through and your generosity and love have been overwhelming. We love you all so much.

We also want to thank the Penn Medicine oncology doctors and teams in both West Chester and Philadelphia. Their tremendous care and support of Jennifer won’t be forgotten.
