James Perretta

James Perretta - father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.  Passed away on April 20, 2021.  Loving father of James Dino Perretta, F. Sean Perretta (Deceased),Pia Perretta (Deceased), Beth Perretta, Gilda (Alim) Thorne, Donna Perretta, and Natalie (Joseph) Lowe.  Loving grandfather of Sammie, Dorothy, Jasmine Dionna, James Dino, Jocelyn, Samirah, Cameron, Lea, David, Sean, Alexis, William, Devon, Robbie, and Jacob. Loving brother of Carl Peretta and the late Felix and Ann Perretta.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.    

A longtime resident of Philadelphia. Jim, as he was best known, loved spending time with family and friends. He worked at the Philadelphia Fire Department – where he reached the rank of Lieutenant; and the Philadelphia School District for more than thirty years – where he was an English Teacher and then a Librarian.

He instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of education and hard work. He was known for his quick wit and his infectious laugh. He took who he was and shared it with anyone who was fortunate enough to cross his path.

Jim’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 1, 2021 at St. Frances de Sales Church located at 4625 Springfield Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143. The public viewing will begin at 9:45 AM with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00. The interment will be private.
