James P. Killeen, 85 of Lower Gwynedd, PA died at home on October, 31, 2020. He was the loving and caring husband of MaryJane (nee Crane) Killeen for 54 years. He is survived by his daughter, Maureen Stanek (Gary), his twin grandchildren, Erin and Brendan, and his sister Veronica (nee Killeen) Durkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (nee Black) and James Francis Killeen, his sisters, Mary Crossan (Max) and Patricia Plachta (Ben).
Jim graduated from South East Catholic and attended Penn State University. After college, he joined the Air Force for four years. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Jim started with Bell Telephone as a Switchman. Jim worked for the Telephone Company, now known as Verizon for 42 years. In that time he rose to being a Specialist in the Maintenance Engineering group where he eventually retired from in 2001. While he was working for Verizon he also started and ran a printing business with his brother-in-law, Max Crossan. Jim was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus joining in 1957. Rising up to a 4th Degree Knight, he was also one of the founding members of the Joseph P. Keeney Council.
Jim enjoyed reading, watching Fox News and listening to Irish music. Family was everything to Jim, the sun rose and set on his wife, Janie and daughter Maureen. Jim couldn’t wait to become a Pop-Pop. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved going to soccer games, baseball games, and Irish dance competitions and performances. Even as his health declined, he still went to as many events as he could.
We will miss Jim’s humor and sharp Irish wit. He was always a jokester and always had so many stories to tell. He touched so many people throughout his life and will be deeply missed by all.
