Irma Willis Obituary

Irma (Burgos) Willis, 94, formerly Irma Wheaton and Irma Pino, was known to many as Emma, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023, in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Born on July 8, 1928, in Mt. Union, Pennsylvania, Irma lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family.

Irma was preceded in death by her husbands, William Wheaton (Philadelphia, PA), Frank Pino (Leisuretowne, NJ)  and George Willis III (Poincianna, FL). She has five loving children, Barbara DiTullio, William R. Wheaton (deceased), John Wheaton (Marilyn Stumm), Jeanette Ranalli (Joseph, deceased), and Irma Labrice. Irma always put family first in her life.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great pride in her 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren cherishing every moment spent with them.

Throughout her life, Irma held various positions as a security officer in retail sales for Lit Brothers and Strawbridge & Clothier. She was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her job, earning the respect of her colleagues and supervisors.

In her free time, Irma was a talented crocheter creating beautiful hats, scarves, and blankets for her family and friends. She also enjoyed beading, making necklaces, bracelets, and other pieces of jewelry for her loved ones.  Her handiwork was not only an expression of her creativity but also of her love for those she held dear. The items she crafted are cherished by those who received them and they serve as a warm reminder of Irma’s caring nature and generosity.

Above all, Irma’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a source of strength and support for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren always putting their needs before her own. Her love for her family was unwavering and she was a constant presence at family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations. Irma’s laughter and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
