Inge Emma Latanishen (nee Wieder), age 95 of Drexel Hill entered into eternal life on April 17th. She was the beloved wife of the late Steve Latanishen and loving mother of the late Michael (Mary) Latanishen, Ingrid (Frank) Nestore, Stephanie (Thomas) Dunn and Andrew (Maureen) Latanishen. She was the cherished ‘Omi’ to seven grandchildren and to seven great-grandchildren. Inge passed peacefully and was ready to move on after a long life.
Inge was born and raised in Berlin, Germany and performed calisthenics as entertainment during the 1936 Olympics when she was 11 years old. She experienced quite a few challenges living through the carpet bombing and destruction of Berlin as well as the Russian occupation at the end of WWII. She married Steve, an American soldier, and then they moved to the United States. She treasured her occasional visits with her family back in Germany.
Inge was known for being a ‘health nut’ before the term was popular. She embraced healthy nutrition and daily exercise. She was insightful and spiritual, witty, artistic and creative. She liked to be active and enjoyed dancing, hiking and even cleaning her house. The thing that Inge loved more than anything was being with her family. Inge leaves us with many good memories and stories to recall. She will be dearly missed by all.
