Hsichin Tsai, 87, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at 6:30 am, surrounded by his family after running the good race and fighting the good fight.
Born on October 7, 1939, he grew up in Zhudong, Taiwan. After studying engineering at the prestigious National Taiwan University, he obtained his Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. His early career began with the Franklin Institute. He then dedicated the next 32 years of his distinguished career to serving the United States of America at the Naval Air Warfare Center until his retirement in 2012.
After surviving his first bout with cancer, he came to know the Lord Jesus Christ in 1978. God would further help him overcome esophageal cancer in 2013 and stomach cancer in 2018. He served loyally at Chinese Salvation Church from 1979 to 2002, and then at Trinity Christian Church from 2002 to the present. Answering a call from Ambassadors for Christ, he began missionary work with the Hakka people in 2010, returning yearly to Taiwan and visiting Guatemala three times.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen; his children, David (Winnie), Douglas (Jane), and Deborah (Paidow); and his grandchildren, Ellissa, Savanna, Chloe, Michelle, Eleanor, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Hsichin was an avid sports fan, particularly of football, and remained a loyal Eagles fan throughout his life. E-A-G-L-E-S. EAGLES. However, his true passion was his relationship with God and sharing His love with others. Each day, he sought to know God through the Bible and prayer—listening, learning, and interceding for his family, friends, the church, the United States of America, and the world. To Hsichin, Jesus was the source of everything: love, grace, mercy, life, hope, strength, endurance, resilience, peace, and joy.
John 9:4 – “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.”
