Henry Michael Vasil

Henry "Hank" M. Vasil, of Media, loving husband, father, grandpop, and loving companion passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the age of 87. He was the husband of the late Mary F. (nee Paznokaitis) Vasil.

Born on July 31, 1935 in Chester, to the late John and Josephine (nee Malinowski) Vasil.

He is survived by his three beautiful daughters, Stephanie Vasil of Wilmington, DE, Jennifer Crone and her husband, Bill of Towson, MD and Joanna Pietrafitta and her husband, Mike of West Chester, PA and his grandchildren, Jordan and Michael Pietrafitta. He is further survived by the family of his late companion, Joan Beck; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death his wife; his parents; his three sisters, Katherine Vasil, Agnes Calderoni and Joyce Chaplin; brother-in-law, Joseph Stanley and recently by his loving companion, Joan Beck.

Hank was the President of Chester High School, Class of 1953. He was on the Class of 1953 Reunion Committee and enjoyed working with other committee members to organize and plan each event. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. After the Army, he worked at McGovern's Menswear in Chester where he developed his sense of style and taste for quality clothing. Hank later worked as a Standards Engineer at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and after 29 years retired from the Naval Air Engineering Center, Lakehurst, NJ.

Hank cherished spending time with his family, going to lunch with friends, and in his later years, spending time with Joan in Houston, TX. He enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, MD, traveling and took many cruises. He was a faithful Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He would reminisce about his younger days attending baseball games at Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:15am at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 1325 Boot Rd., West Chester, PA 19380. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in the church at 10:30am by Msgr. Angelo Citino. Interment to follow services at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield. MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE VISITATION AND MASS.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his memory be made to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the nurses, therapists and caregivers who provided exceptional care to their father during his illness.
