Henry Leon Surprenant, Hank, passed away on October 4, 2025, in Paoli, Pennsylvania. Born on November 7, 1949, in Coco Solo, Panama, Hank's journey through life was marked by his kindness, intelligence, and humorous nature which touched the lives of all who knew him.
With a profound love for science, Hank earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire, followed by a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A 35 year professional career in the pharmaceutical industry included many advancements in products and technology. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated professional with a collaborative spirit who loved to engage with and mentor his peers.
Outside of his professional life, Hank was a man of many interests and talents. He loved to travel and was a huge sports fan. He also was an avid golfer, taking his analytical approach to improving every time out. Hank enjoyed the camaraderie on the course and chance to be outside in all seasons with family and friends.
Hank had a knack for problem solving of all kinds and put his analytical mind to work. From major house projects to crosswords, selecting your next computer or fixing your lawn-mower, Hank became the go-to person for how to navigate questions and give the best answers.
Hank's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife of 41 years, Delores, and their children, Matthew and Corinne. His wisdom and guidance will continue to live on through his grandchildren, Genevieve and Felix, who will always remember their grandfather's goofy demeanor and the lessons he imparted.
Hank is also survived by his three sisters (Amelia, Jo-Anne, Norma), and two brothers (Donald and John) and their families.
A memorial service for Henry will be held at noon on Friday, October 17th 2025 at Logan Funeral Home in Exton, PA, visitation begins at 11:00 AM.
