Helene M. (Mitchell) Canning

Helene M. Canning (née Mitchell) of Limerick, PA, formerly of Yeadon, PA, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on June 20, 2022 surrounded by her family. Helene was born in Philadelphia to the late Marshall (Mickey) and Marie Mitchell. She graduated from West Catholic Girls HS, and was a devout Catholic. Married to the late James Canning for 48 years, Helene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her life to raising her four children and enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting her daughter in Manasquan, NJ, time down the shore, watching golf, and having lunch with her lifelong friends. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Canning, and her brother James Mitchell. She is survived by her brother Michael Mitchell, children Roseann (the late Scott) Dittmar, Helene Canning, Maureen (Michael) Nugent, and John (Kim) Canning, grandchildren Patrick (Stephanie) Dittmar, Robert Dittmar, and Aidan, Liam, and Kathleen Canning, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation 9:30 - 10:45 AM, Friday June 24, 2022 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church, 256 Swamp Pike. Limerick, PA 19473, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the Church.
