Gregory John Sodus
August 7, 1939 – July 20, 2025
Gregory John Sodus, 85, of Exton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025.
Born in Buffalo, New York, on August 7, 1939, Greg was the beloved son of the late John J. Sodus and Marian T. Sodus (née Bliziniak). A proud graduate of Canisius High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Buffalo. Between high school and college, Greg served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for six years.
In July 1966, Greg married the love of his life, Luba Hershan, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, laughter, and devotion. Together they raised their daughter, Cynthia L. Sodus (Barry Gabler), whom he cherished deeply.
Greg was a man of many passions. He was an avid gardener who couldn’t go a year without his tomatoes. A skilled woodworker, he found joy and creativity in his workshop, crafting pieces that will be treasured for generations. A lifelong numismatist, he turned his fascination with coins into a business during the 1970s as a coin dealer, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with collectors and friends alike.
Above all, Greg was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, father, and “Papa” to his granddaughters, Annalee M.S. Saunders (Thomas Saunders) and Grace M.S. Gabler, who will always remember his warmth, wisdom, and his playful way of answering the phone with “Joe’s Pizza.” His daughter Cynthia will forever carry the memory of his affectionate greeting, “Hello, Sunshine.”
Greg is predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Dolores Valentine (wife of Joseph Valentine) and Phyllis Knuth; and his brother Dennis Sodus (Florence Sodus née Kuczma).
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church in Exton, Pennsylvania, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
Greg’s gentle spirit, sharp wit, and boundless love for his family will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
