Gordon R. Rickards

Gordon R. Rickards, 74 of Bethany Beach, DE, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022.

He was the son of the late Wilbert I. and Lois W. (nee Whiteley) Rickards, and brother of the late Wilbert I. Rickards, Jr.

Gordon was the brother of Janice E. Rickards, uncle of Lois J. (Peter) Entner and Kurrene D. Rickards, beloved grand uncle of Rebecca F. Entner, Sarah M. Entner, Sam Ladd, and William K. Entner, and brother-in-law of Doris J. Rickards.

Gordon has loved the DE beaches all his life, starting by visiting family in Fenwick Island and then owning a house in Bethany Beach for the last 30 years. He could be found on the beach on his bright yellow blanket. He had a witty sense of humor who made everyone feel welcome. He was an avid reader and loved his dogs. He worked at the University of Pennsylvania for 35 years before retiring to Bethany Beach. He was an active member of the Ocean View Historical Society and Sussex County Democrats. More than anything Gordon loved working in his garden and helped his elderly neighbors with their yards as well. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Visitation: Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Road Broomall, PA 19008.

Funeral Service: Monday, May 23, 2022, at 12:30 pm, at Logan-Videon Funeral Home.

Burial: Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Road Drexel Hill, PA 19026.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gordon’s name to the Ocean View Historical Society.
