Gloria Irene Tatios, 89, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on February 5, 1936, to her beloved mother, Vera Bassill, Gloria grew up in West Philadelphia alongside her siblings Chris, Elaine, Diane, and Bill. It was there that she met her husband, Steven Tatios. The two married in 1955, and shared 66 happy years together. They built a home in Broomall, where they lived their entire lives and raised their family.
Gloria’s greatest joy was her children — Christine (John), Diane (Francis), Steven (Beverly), and Gloria (Baron) — whom she loved endlessly. Her love extended to her 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness. Family was the center of her world, and her greatest pleasure was simply being with them, wherever they were.
Warm, kind, and radiant, Gloria had a gift for making every place she entered brighter and gentler. She delighted in gardening, especially growing dahlias, feeding the wildlife in her backyard, collecting treasures, and crafting. She and Steve loved traveling up the East Coast to watch the autumn leaves change, and their time spent at the beach with family.
For 60 years, Gloria faithfully served at First Baptist Church in Newtown Square. She was known for her constant prayers for loved ones and her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. Gloria’s life was a testament to grace, contentment, and faith — qualities that will continue to inspire all her cherished friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Steven Tatios; her parents, Vera and Leonidas Bassill; her brother, Chris Bassill and half-brother, Stephen Bassill; and her sisters, Elaine Dugan and Diane Daniels. She is survived by her brother Bill Bassill and half-siblings Rosalee Ackerman, Nick Bassill, and Daniel Bassill as well as many extended family members who will hold onto her memory.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 9:30-10:30 AM with a service beginning at 10:30 AM, all to be held at Chvrch of Newtown Square, 3722 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Interment in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
