George Trucksess Obituary

George Edward Trucksess, passed away in his home in Kissimmee, Florida on November 29, 2020 at the age of 91. George was born to the late Charles A. and Dorothy (nee Anlage) Trucksess in West Philadelphia on August 24, 1929. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his brother Charles and sister Dorothy Ferro.

George and his wife Mary (nee Connolly) celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in September. They started their married life in Southwest Philadelphia before moving to Yeadon, PA and eventually settling in Kissimmee Florida.

George enjoyed sports, playing basketball and horseshoes at the Yeadon Swim Club, and coaching his sons’ basketball and baseball teams. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and was an avid golfer. He even loved to watch golf on TV, assuming his guy, Phil Mickelson made the cut, but most of all he enjoyed playing a round of golf with his sons. He played as recently as this summer with his son and grandson.

George was also artistically talented. He had a beautiful singing voice but was too shy to perform for an audience. He liked  to draw, paint and play the keyboard.

When he wasn’t pursing his hobbies, George worked hard at developing his sweet tooth. He never met a chocolate bar he didn’t like and ice cream was considered a staple of his diet.

Through his actions, he demonstrated time and again what a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather he was.

Those left to mourn George’s passing include his loving wife Mary, his sons Eddie of Orlando Florida, Bob and his wife Lisa of Philadelphia, Jim and his wife Maureen of Ft. Myers, Florida, Joe of Sebring, Florida, Mike of Maitland, Florida, Tom and his wife Jackie of Orlando, Florida and daughter Karen, along with her husband Larry Decker of Orlando, Florida.

He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and their spouses: Joseph Trucksess and his wife Christina, Rebecca Trucksess and her husband Doug Haughey, Lauren Trucksess, Robert Trucksess, Brett Trucksess, Matt Trucksess and his wife Siaolan, Kristen Trucksess, Angela Trucksess and Christian Farrow, four great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Knox, Declan and Jackson and many nieces and nephews.

From the Bonner/Prendie website, “George and Mary Trucksess, understanding the value of a faith based education, chose Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast for their 7 children despite the financial struggle it presented for them.   Mr. Robert Trucksess ’74 has established this scholarship in gratitude of his parents, for providing him and his siblings with an education that ensured the presence of God throughout their daily lives, in an environment that stressed academics, morals, values, and community”.
