Dr. Francis W. Brennan, known affectionately as Frank to all who knew him, left this world on June 8, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer, facing it with the same grace and humor with which he lived his life. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, on March 29, 1965, Frank's infectious laughter and larger-than-life personality began spreading joy from the very beginning.
After Frank's early days in New Brunswick, NJ, he spent over 50 years living within 3 miles of his childhood home. As the oldest of four boys, he truly lived up to being the best big brother! His journey from a student at the University of Scranton to a respected Doctor of Osteopathy from PCOM set the bar high as a family role model. After all, he was likely the only doctor in history who could tell his patients about working in a quarry to pay for med school—without any of the punch lines being a load of gravel.
His professional life was as rich and fulfilling as his personal one, with a career that saw him bringing smiles and relief to his patients, often with a joke and a chuckle, always spending just a little too much time with each and every patient. Frank was the kind of doctor who prescribed laughter as the best medicine, right after whatever it was that would actually cure you, typically Claritin!
When it came to his family, Frank was as passionate as they come. He was a loving husband to his wife, Stacy, who stood by him through good times and bad. His children, Kaitlin, Andrew (Alexa), and Caroline, were the apples of his eye, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Whether watching his girls take to the lacrosse field, his son kicking on the gridiron, or attending a Downingtown East Football game during his nearly 2 decades of service as team doctor, Frank rarely missed a game.
Frank's parents, Frank and Marion, instilled in him the values of love, kindness and humor. Frank was their personal doctor and could often be found whipping something up in the kitchen for them. He was always on adventures with his brothers, Michael (Jane), Mark (Deanna), and John (Kimberly), namely taking to the slopes in the winter or golf in the summer with all six of his Brennan nieces and nephews; Alexandra (Jonathan), Courtney (Tim), Nicholas (Kristen), Matthew, Mia and baby Jackson. During summers, he loved to spend his time with Kitty and George in Ocean City, Maryland with his brothers’ in law Scott (Heidi), Todd (Melissa), and four Welker nieces and nephews; Jonathan, Justin, Chad, and Nicole.
Frank's interests were as varied as his jokes were plentiful. He found solace on the golf course, where his swing was as unpredictable as his punch lines. A die-hard Phillies fan and an eternal optimist for the Birds, Frank was able to see his beloved Eagles once again claim the title, Super Bowl Champions one last time! But it was his time with his children that he cherished most, often saying that his greatest accomplishment was being their dad.
As we say goodbye to Frank, let's remember him not with sadness but with the joy he brought into our lives. His legacy is one of laughter, love, and the unbreakable spirit of a man who could find humor in the face of anything life threw his way. Frank was more than a skilled physician and a sports enthusiast – he was a warm and steady presence, a compassionate listener, a trusted caregiver to so many, and a loving family man. Frank, you will be deeply missed, but never forgotten, as your jokes and love will continue to echo in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing you.
Stacy and her family encourage all to celebrate Frank's life by wearing their Eagles and Phillies gear Friday night. Or, please wear bright and colorful attire for Mass on Saturday to keep spirits high! Thank you.
