Eunice Gillem Obituary

Eunice Jane Gillem (nee McIntosh), fondly known as EJ by her loved ones, passed away peacefully in Havertown on April 17, 2024, at the age of 67, after a stroke. Born on February 19, 1957, in Philadelphia, PA Eunice was the daughter of the late William T McIntosh and Christine Jeannette McIntosh (nee Thompson). EJ was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

EJ is survived by her devoted husband James, her loving daughter Samantha and son Justin, and her cherished grandson Lucas. Her family, the epicenter of her world, will miss her deeply and will strive to honor her legacy by living out the values she embodied.

EJ was a graduate of Immaculata University, where she not only excelled academically but also cultivated lifelong friendships and a spirit of community that would define her years to come, all while working full time and taking care of her family at home. After completing her education, she embarked on a life dedicated to family, friends, and anyone in need of a comforting presence.

EJ's home was an extension of her heart; it was a sanctuary where doors were always open. She was known as 'Mom' to many, not just to her biological children, but to any individual who needed a place to call home, a meal, or a listening ear. Her ability to provide support and her unyielding willingness to help those around her were the hallmarks of her generous spirit.

EJ's passions were as diverse as her skills. She was an avid NASCAR fan, with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver. She had a friend group that started online but became a real life family lasting decades and taking her across the country. Her enthusiasm for the sport was matched only by her love for the Tour de France, which she followed with keen interest every year. EJ was also incredibly creative, with knitting and sewing being among her favorite pastimes. She loved shopping for fun and funky patterns that reflected her playful personality. Her handcrafted gifts were treasured by all who received them.

Her love for animals was evident in her affection for her cats Apollo and Athena, and she found great joy in cooking, nature walks, gardening, and simply being outdoors. EJ's garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing nature, bursting with life and color, much like her own life.

EJ will be remembered as the epitome of love, generosity, and selflessness. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness and in the beautiful moments shared with those she loved. Her impact on the world is immeasurable, and she will be profoundly missed by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
