Esperanza L. Ayala
Esperanza Ayala (née Lira) passed on April 22,2020 in Media,Pennsylvania. She was 87 years old. Esperanza Ayala was born on July 2, 1932 in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico to Pedro and Carmen Lira. She moved to Southern California with her husband, Jaime Ayala, where the couple raised three daughters.
As a young woman Esperanza traveled extensively throughout Mexico with her family,which remained among her fondest memories throughout her life. As a wife and mother, Esperanza enjoyed dancing, gardening, watching her telenovelas, as well as regularly attending church. Esperanza enjoyed reminiscing about growing up in Mexico, as well as hosting family gatherings, and was an avid teller of “dichos” (proverbs).
Esperanza resided with her daughter in Delaware County for many years, where she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, taking day trips to Cape May, NJ, and Philadelphia, and staying connected with longtime friends and family in California. In the final years of her life she was a resident of Sterling Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Media, PA.
Esperanza will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, a caring and gentle grandmother, and a loyal and generous friend. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra, Esperanza (Greg) Rechner, and Maricela, her adoring granddaughters, Marisela, Alexandra, Inés, and Emilia, siblings, Victor (Anthia Andreas) Lira, and Carmela Lira, brother-in-law, Arturo Ayala, husband of late Lucy Ayala. Esperanza was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Jaime Ayala, brother, Raul Lira, and parents, Pedro and Carmen Lira.
Due to the current situation, a funeral mass and celebration of life will be held for her when friends and family can gather safely.
