Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Bernady of Chester Springs passed away Sunday evening, August 30, 2020 at the age of 78. She was the loving wife of Karel F. Bernady for 56 years. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (White) Dewling. Betty was a member of Saint Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church in Uwchlan PA. She held several jobs during her lifetime, the most important as wife and mother. Betty was a loving mom to daughters, Jeannette (Matt) Dowling of Westminster, Maryland and Valerie (Steve) Mills of Jackson, New Jersey and loving “Grandma” to Jake, Zach, Emily, Mitch and Samantha. She also is survived by sisters, Patricia (Wayne) Morris of Queenstown, Maryland and Margaret “Peggy” (Charles) Smith of Westminster, Maryland and many nieces and nephews.
Betty supported local charitable causes, was an accomplished cook, enjoyed quilting, reading her books and painting her weekly masterpiece for all to enjoy! She loved her sushi outings, trips to the Ocean, telephone chats, family gatherings and especially spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She was proud of all their accomplishments. She loved the winter season when the trees displayed their form and greatness, “trees without leaves” as Betty would say. Her smile and laughter will be sadly missed by all. In honoring Betty’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a future time at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
