Dr. Richard Y.C. Wang

Dr. Richard Yuan Chang Wang, of Exton, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the age of 78, with his family by his side. Richard was a devoted husband, father and son who was deeply dedicated to his family. He had a terrific sense of humor and joy for life.  He loved to travel, and enjoyed seeing the world and meeting people.  As the pillar of our family, he will be remembered for his kind heart and generous soul, his brilliance and industriousness, and his wise and gentle spirit.  

 
Richard was born on July 28, 1942 in the city of Duyun, province of Guizhou, China to Mr. and Mrs. Chin-Yu Wang and Chu-Jen Sun.  He came to the United States to study as a graduate student, earning his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania.  A talented chemist, he developed and patented new processes for drug development and enjoyed a highly successful career as a pharmaceutical executive in the United States with SmithKline Beecham and Pfizer, and subsequently with a startup in Taiwan.  Even in retirement, he loved to read scientific papers, research stocks and follow the financial markets.

He is survived by his wife Janet, two daughters Alice and Olivia, four granddaughters (Mira, Anneliese, Ariana and Isabel), two sons-in-law Paul and Mark and his younger brother Robert. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces and cousins. He will be deeply missed and will forever live in our hearts as a tremendous man, father, husband, brother and friend.

Friends and family are invited to the Funeral Service held outdoors at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens (352 S. Gulph Road, King of Prussia) at 2 pm EST on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
