Dr. Peter Parry Obituary

Peter V. Parry, 84, of Newtown Square, PA, formerly of Media and Drexel Hill, passed
away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2022 after an extended illness. He was the
husband of the late Jaculyn Carpenter Parry.

Peter was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 28, 1937, the son of the late Herbert and
Antoinette (Waters) Parry. He was raised in Lynbrook, NY along with his twin brother, the
late John B. Parry and his sister Suzanne Bott. Peter attended Hofstra University and
received a BS in Pre-Med. While he was a med student at Columbia, he met the love of
his life, Jackie Carpenter. Peter Graduated from Columbia Presbyterian and became a
Doctor of Internal Medicine in 1962. He later became an Endocrinologist and eventually
Chief of Endocrinology at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. He was an excellent
physician practicing medicine in the Drexel Hill area for over 43 years and he was dearly
loved by all of his patients. Peter retired from medicine in 2005 but he never gave up his
passion for helping others. He continued to volunteer at Care Center clinic offering
diabetic counseling for several years. During his medical career Dr. Peter Parry received
several awards for accomplishments in his field.

Peter and Jackie were married on March 10, 1962, by her brother-in-law, the late
Reverend George A. Isley III in Charlton, NY. They spent 55 wonderful years together
raising their four children.

Peter was a devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather, friend
and physician. He was a man with indestructible faith who served God by sharing the
Gospel and bringing people to Christ. Peter maintained a very close relationship with his
twin brother throughout their lives. At a young age he and John had an enthusiastic love
for baseball and the Brooklyn Dodgers. They often joked how they would sneak into the
games in their younger years. As a father and husband, Peter had a great love for travel
and enjoyed time with his family while vacationing in Marco Island, taking cruises around
the world and visiting the Holy Land. He was an active member of Church of the Saviour,
Wayne, PA. He joyfully taught Sunday School and volunteered each summer at the
church’s Camp Little Bear alongside Jackie, where their grandchildren happily attended.
Peter also served as Chairman of the Deacons. He loved to play the piano and tennis. He
was also a great weather buff and fine food connoisseur. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing a
great meal with family and friends. Peter was also passionate about giving directions…he
was famous for always knowing the best route to anywhere you might be going, even if it
was to your own home.

Peter was preceded in death by his wife Jaculyn Carpenter Parry and very recently his
twin brother, John Brittain Parry. Peter is survived by his sister Suzanne Bott (Tom Bott),
his sister-in-law (Carol Isley), his children: David Vaughan (Christine Alt), Jonathan
Carpenter (Mikie Galvin), Elizabeth Anne, and Mark Lewis, his beloved grandchildren:
Edward John “EJ” Swager, David “Max” Vaughan, Samuel Grant (Katie Sinson), Luke
Breckenridge, Olivia Meredith (Matt McLaughlin), Alexandra Vaughn and Erin James.
He also leaves behind devoted extended family members including his cousin Margaret
Knight (Arthur Knight), many nieces and nephews, many close friends, his amazingly
dedicated caregivers and his faithful former patients.

Plans have not been finalized for a Celebration of Life. The family is planning a joint
celebration to include Peter’s recently deceased twin brother, John B. Parry. Details to
follow.
