Dr. Lois Peck, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 26th. Born in 1941 to the late William and Kathleen (Wilkenson) Worner, Lois lived a life defined by faith, learning, service, and love.
A proud graduate of Marple-Newtown High School’s Class of 1960, Lois pursued her passion for education with determination and distinction. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education from West Chester University and later achieved her Ph.D. from Temple University. Lois dedicated her career to teaching and mentoring, serving as a biology professor at the University of the Sciences and Neumann College, and as an adjunct professor at Immaculata University. She inspired generations of students with her knowledge, curiosity, and genuine care for others.
Lois was a devoted and lifelong member of the Newtown Square Presbyterian Church, where she had been active since 1957. Her service to the church was extensive and heartfelt, including roles as Elder, Deacon, Director of Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School teacher. Her faith was central to her life and evident in her generosity and kindness.
Beyond her professional and church life, Lois was deeply involved in her community. She was a member of the Women’s Club of Newtown Square, Alpha Delta Kappa—where she proudly served as President of the Upsilon Chapter—the National Honor Society of Educators, and the Society for College Science Professors.
In her personal life, Lois found great joy in traveling with her beloved husband, Fred, whom she married in 1971. She also loved knitting, participating in book clubs, and playing bridge. Above all, she will be remembered for her joyful spirit, warm smile, and the love she so freely shared with family, friends, students, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Lois is survived by her son, Fred; her nieces, Christine Roth and Karen Babiack; her grandnieces, Shanna Babiack and Leighanna Roth; and her grandnephews, Todd Babiack and Gavin Roth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; and her sister, Jean Beam.
