Dorothy "Dot" Baldwin Allen, a woman who could light up a room with her laughter and whose kindness was as infectious as her humor, took her final bow on October 24, 2023. Born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, on October 7, 1942, daughter of the late Fred and Martha Dougan Adams, Dot was a woman who lived her life to the fullest, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she met.
Dot's life was a testament to the love she had for her family, friends, and the world around her. She was a devoted wife to both the late Philip C. Baldwin Sr. and the late G. Craig Allen, proving that love can indeed strike twice. As a mother, she showered her children, the late Sherry Baldwin Zampatella, Philip C. "Charles" Baldwin Jr., and his wife, Daria and Peter A. Baldwin, and his wife, Christine, with love and affection. Her love extended to her stepsons, Robert L. Allen and his wife, Darlene, and the late George Craig Allen III.
Dot was also a beloved sister to Betty Adams Andrews, the wife of the late Andy Andrews, and John Adams and his wife, Mary. As a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Dot was the matriarch of a large and loving family, which included five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She also shared a special bond with her five nieces and nephews.
Dot's sense of humor was as expansive as her heart. She had the ability to make people laugh even in the most challenging situations. Her funny and friendly nature made her a favorite among her friends and family. She was as kind as she was funny, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. She brought joy and laughter to every occasion; her presence was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
In the words of the great Charlie Chaplin, "A day without laughter is a day wasted." Dot lived by this mantra, filling every day with laughter and love. She was a woman who lived her life on her own terms and in her own unique way, always with a smile on her face and a joke on her lips.
Dot's legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness. She taught us all to find the humor in life, to be kind to one another, and to treasure our loved ones. She was a beacon of light in this world, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
As we bid farewell to Dot, let us remember her with a smile on our faces and laughter in our hearts. After all, as the late, great Robin Williams once said, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Dot, thank you for sharing your spark with us. You may have taken your final bow, but your laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 10am to 12pm in Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008. A Celebration of Dot's Life Service will follow in the funeral home on Friday at 12pm.
