Dorothy Claire Wilcox

Dorothy Claire Wilcox (nee Gaffney), on December 19, 2024. Beloved mother of Charles (pre-deceased) and wife of the late Robert Wilcox. Dorothy passed away peacefully just weeks after her 99th birthday. She was the middle-daughter of the late Marie and Dr. Edward Gaffney. Dorothy’s siblings: William Radcliffe, Edward Gaffney, Marie Shelly and Marguerite Smith all passed before her, as well as her nephews William Radcliffe Jr., Philip Shelly and niece Kathleen Shelly. She is lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews: Joan, James, Sharyn, Marguerite, Karen, Maureen, Michael, Susanna and Patrice. Even some of her great and great-great nieces and nephews were fortunate enough to grab a happy glimpse of Aunt Dot’s loving, sociable nature. Friends, neighbors and (in her final years) caretakers, all enjoyed her funny, sweet, and unique personality.

Dorothy lived an active and colorful life in Philadelphia, PA. There is barely a friend or family member without a memorable “Dorothy-story”. She loved to go dancing, paint, do crossword puzzles, spoil her french poodles, tinker with electronics, sing with her sisters at family events, talk on the telephone, travel, socialize with friends and…stir a bit of trouble from time to time. Not a visit was spent without laughter. She was kind, supportive, and never forgot to send a birthday card written with beautiful words and a $10 bill to her nieces and nephews. Dorothy’s son Charles, who experienced lifelong PTSD after serving in the military, depended on her care and “mom” was faithful to his needs as she helped him navigate a challenging life. She will be greatly missed by all who looked forward to spending holidays and family-time with her. We will never stop feeling your love or reminiscing about you, Aunt Dot! We love you! Xoxoxoxoxo

Please join Dorothy's family and friends, in celebrating her life, on Monday February 24 at Logan Funeral Home, 698 E. Lincoln Hwy. Exton PA 19341. Visitation will begin at 11:30am. Funeral service will begin at Noon. Burial will be private at another date at Resurrection Cemetery.
