Dorothy Hey Obituary

Dorothy (Huss) Pollock Hey, affectionately known as Dottie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at the venerable age of 102. Born on September 6, 1922, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Dottie was a beacon of love and friendship throughout her extraordinary life. She was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family, a respected colleague in her professional career, and a friend to many.

The daughter of the late Arthur Theodore and Irma Pauline (Bullner) Huss, Dottie was the epitome of warmth and hospitality. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, James Pollock in 1975 and Warren A. Hey, Jr. in 2006, as well as her siblings Harry, Ted, Walt, and Eddie Huss, and sisters Gladys (Huss) Mraz and Helen (Huss) McKillip. Her spirit is carried on by her sister Betty (Huss) Allender of Charlotte, NC, her loving children, Karen and Gene Columbo, Janie and Gerry Geder, Dottie McKinney, and the late Jimmie Pollock, whose wife Nancy Pollock survives and the late Debbie (Pollock) Vice. Her legacy also shines brightly through her grandchildren Ryan, Dr. Nikki, Marc, Jason, Amanda, Kristine, Jaime, Jimmie, Danielle, Kelly, and Leanne, not to mention the joy of her 17 great-grandchildren.

During World War II, Dottie served her country with pride as an employee at Frankford Arsenal. After the war, she continued her professional journey with Bell Telephone and later with the Delaware County Hospital, where she was known for her dedication and friendly demeanor. Dottie's work ethic and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

A woman of many passions, Dottie's interests were as varied as they were engaging. She found solace in the tranquility of her garden, the camaraderie of playing cards with friends, and the vitality that came from regular exercise. Always eager to learn and expand her horizons, Dottie enjoyed taking continuing education classes well into her later years. Her social nature was a cornerstone of her personality, and she could often be found surrounded by friends and family, her laughter ringing out as a testament to her spirited nature.

Above all, Dottie was a loving and doting presence in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her ability to give love unconditionally and her tireless support of their endeavors were the hallmarks of her role as their grandmother. The memories created during countless family gatherings, holidays, and everyday moments will be treasured forever by those who were lucky enough to experience her affection.

Dottie's life was one of joy and service, and she will be remembered as a loving, friendly, and spirited soul. Her impact on the world was as profound as it was gentle, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Yet, her spirit endures in the hearts of her family, her friends, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.

We celebrate the century of life that she embraced with such fervor. Her story is one of love, resilience, and the power of human connection. Dottie's journey may have come to a close, but the echoes of her laughter and the warmth of her smile will resonate for generations to come.
