Donald Frank Obituary

Donald Laurence Frank, affectionately known as Don, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Newtown Square, PA. Born on April 5, 1936, to the late Joseph and Ethel (née Gelbach) Frank, Don was the seventh of eight children whose spirited presence brought joy and wisdom to all who knew him.

A devoted family man, Don’s love for his family was immeasurable. He was the beloved husband of Mariel Haggerty Frank and the supportive, caring father of Brian C. (Jeanne) Frank, Jennifer F. (James) McGrory, Donald R. (Laura) Frank, and the late Robert G. Frank. His legacy continues through his nine cherished grandchildren—Amy, Christopher, Meilyn, Analei, William, Maxwell, Maeve, Brody, and James—who were his pride and joy.

Don attended St. Francis of Assisi in Springfield and graduated from West Catholic High School with the Class of 1954. He went on to earn his degree from Villanova University in 1958.

Guided by his Catholic faith, Don lived with kindness, integrity, and generosity. His professional life reflected his dedication and strong work ethic, while his personal life was enriched by his 66 year marriage to his wife, Mariel, and the family they raised together. An avid golfer, he was the oldest active member of Overbrook Golf Club.

Among Don’s greatest joys was attending his grandchildren’s many activities. He could always be found on a sideline, in a bleacher, or a theater watching his grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than their smiling faces. He was their biggest fan!

Don’s passing leaves a profound void, yet his spirit will continue to inspire his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:45 A.M. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Road, Media, PA 19063, followed by his Funeral Mass at 12:00 P.M. Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don’s memory may be made to West Catholic Preparatory High School, Class of 1954, 4501 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19139.
