Dennise Askins Mascuch Obituary

Dennise Askins Mascuch (nee Flanagan), passed away on July 24th, 2025 at the age of 81. The Daughter of Agnes Flanagan (nee McGinnis) and Dennis Flanagan, Dennise grew up in the Castor Gardens section of Northeast Philadelphia and graduated from St. Hubert’s high school for girls. She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 40 years, Joseph L. Mascuch, with whom she shared in a wonderful and loving marriage.

As a young woman, Dennise moved to the Society Hill area with her husband and children. She launched Askins Models Inc. in historic Head House Square, an AFTRA-SAG franchised model and talent agency, which quickly grew into a well known Philadelphia business that provided actors and models to numerous department stores, advertising agencies and fashion photographers in the tri-state area.

A great advocate for women in business, Dennise sat on the board of Fashion Group International and served for a time as president of the Philadelphia chapter. An organization that provided a professional network for women in the fashion industry, FGI was known for its charity events and fashion shows that provided wardrobes to women in need who were entering the workforce, as well as scholarships to fashion design students at local colleges.

Throughout her career, she was also extensively involved in charity work with foundations such as Breast Health Institute, Donors Are Heroes, and The Foundation For Breast and Prostate Health, which hosted the Gary Papa run for prostate cancer research with Channel 6 Action News.

She is survived by her children, Lisa And Dennis Askins, and her grandchildren, Jax McGinley and River Carnes Askins.

As we bid farewell to Dennise Claire Mascuch, we celebrate a life that exemplified the very essence of love and dedication. Her memory will be cherished and honored by her family and friends, and the countless lives she inspired through her personal and professional work.

Friend and family are invited to a visitation 9-10:15 AM Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Church, 242 S. 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103, followed by her funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Interment is private.
