Conner Gelwicks Obituary

Conner Jeffrey Gelwicks, a beacon of love, light, and selflessness, passed away on August 2, 2025, at the age of 30 in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.  Born on March 22, 1995, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to parents Jeffrey Todd and MaryBeth (Cheatle) Gelwicks, Conner's early years were filled with the warmth and nurturing of a close-knit family.

A graduate of Zionsville High School in 2013, Conner carried with him not only a love for learning but also a passion for music and sports. He was a proud member of the high school marching band, where the clarinet was his instrument of choice. His enthusiasm for music was paralleled by his dedication to swimming. His leadership and skill in the pool earned him the position of team captain and record holder during his college years at The College of Wooster, where he graduated in 2017. Conner's academic journey was marked by a pioneering spirit; he became the first GIS graduate from The College of Wooster, having created the major himself, a testament to his innovative and forward-thinking nature.

Conner's professional life was grounded in his expertise in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), a field where he applied his sharp intellect and problem-solving abilities. His work was more than a job; it was a reflection of his commitment to understanding and improving the world around him. In his personal time, Conner maintained a love for the water, teaching swimming at the Havertown YMCA, where he continued to share his knowledge with others.

Beyond his professional and athletic pursuits, Conner was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Laurell McGlade, and their newborn son, Arden Conner Gelwicks McGlade, whose arrival on August 1 was a cherished wish come true for both Anna and Conner. His legacy of love and kindness is also carried on by his parents, siblings Lindsey, Landen and his wife Chloe, and Cameron and his wife Addison, along with his cherished nieces and nephews: Langley, Noel, Harlow, and Eloise. Conner's paternal grandparents, Franklin and Patricia (Armstrong) Gelwicks, will remember him with love, as will his in-laws, Ron and Karen McGlade, and brother-in-law Ryan McGlade and his partner Kate Sherman, as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins and the many good and treasured friends that he made throughout his life.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, the late Robert and MaryEllen (Alvino) Cheatle and his great aunt Margaret (Alvino) Smith.  He will also be missed by his and Anna’s dogs, Oliver and Zuzu.

Conner's interests included video games and a love of sports where he was an avid fan of the Colts, Pacers, and Phillies.  He enjoyed visiting his favorite places which included New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Martha’s Vineyard.  Those who knew Conner will remember him as a man who lived his life with purpose and generosity. He was always prepared to lend a helping hand, offering his time, knowledge, and resources without hesitation. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but the memories of his loving nature, his bright intellect, and his selfless demeanor will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Conner Jeffrey Gelwicks will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
