Claire A. (Riddle) Williamson

Claire Williamson, age 88, passed away peacefully Friday, February 19th, 2021 at the Vitas at the Methodist.  Born on 12/4/1932 to the late Frank and Ethel (nee Camp) Riddle and was born and raised in Grays Ferry.  She worked at PNC Bank for 11 years following the premature death of her husband. She also worked at St. Gabriel’s School in the after-school program for 20+ years and cared for many of the neighborhood children.  Claire spent her mornings later in life working in the Grays Ferry Community Center also helping neighbors. She enjoyed sitting on her porch and talking with the neighbors and the children on their way to and from school.  Claire enjoyed her time in the Mountains of Pennsylvania and more recently spending time at the Jersey Shore.    

Claire was the beloved wife of the late John Williamson, loving mother of James (Barbara) Williamson, Robert (the late Linda) Williamson, the late William Williamson, John Williamson, Patricia (Howard) Bell, and Michael Williamson.  Loving mother-in-law of Janice Williamson and Barbara Fratto-Nerch.  Claire had 11 grandchildren: Michelle, Sean, Kathy, Stephanie, Michael, Michael, Kelly, Erin, Lisa, Jay-Jay and Eric.  Along with 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Claire is also sister to the late Marie (Fred) Mossetter, the late Ethel (James) Manion, Ella Mae (the late Thomas) Meehan, Frank (the late Florence) Riddle, the late James (Janice) Riddle.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and many good friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Friday, February 26th from 9:00 to 10:45 A.M. followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Church, 29th and Dickinson Streets, Philadelphia, PA  19146. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.

 In Claire’s memory in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Gabriel’s Church.
