Charles Ponall Obituary

Charles W. Ponall, 88, of Exton, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn Dietz.

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Charles Joseph and Helena (Glinski) Ponall.

Charles was an accomplished violinist. He studied with some of the great violinists of the day, and he was an invited participant in their master classes. In his early years, he was a performer and went on to become an instructor of music. He had many pupils that he taught the art of playing violin and viola.

Charles and Evelyn enjoyed spending time at their summer home on the Delaware River in Equinunk, PA.

Charles had numerous interests, including fly fishing and training retrievers. He will be missed on the sidewalks of Eagleview by neighbors and their dogs as the man with the dog biscuits.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his devoted daughter, Beth Carrington Brown, and two grandsons, Noah Webster Brown and Walker Burton Brown. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jeanette Ponall; nephews, Bill Ponall and Steve Ponall; stepson, Jess Marcotte and his wife, Kelli Marcotte; stepdaughter, Madeline Marcotte and her husband, James Rolston; step-grandchildren, Taylor Marcotte and Casey Moritz; and friend and former sister-in-law, Betsy Hannah.

He was predeceased by his brother, William Ponall.

Charles was previously married to Catherine Burton.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Logan Funeral Home, 392 Lancaster Ave., Malvern, PA 19355.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles’s memory to the ASPCA in honor of his love of animals.
