Obituary

Catherine Ann McIlwee, age 53, passed away on May 16, 2023. She is survived by her son, Peter. Catherine was a 1988 graduate of Marple Newtown High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor's of Sociology at Eastern University. Soon after college, she transitioned into a career in computers, excelling in many technical roles. She put all of herself into being a superstar single mom, providing for and raising her son in a truly admirable way. She would do absolutely anything to make people laugh, and had an incredibly infectious laugh herself. She loved taking trips to Cape May, always requiring a stop at Lobster House for dinner.
Besides her child, Catherine is survived by her parents, Roy and Ruth McIlwee, her sister Jennifer, her brother James, and two grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Broomall on Wednesday, June 14th at 9:30 a.m. The funeral service will be held directly afterwards at 11 a.m. Burial services will be private for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the Pennsylvania SPCA.
