Carol Ternove Obituary

Carol A. Ternove (Newcomer), a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully April 24, 2026, surrounded by love.

A 1977 graduate of Ridley High School, Carol lived a life rooted in service, family, compassion, and community. She was actively involved in many organizations throughout her life, including the St. James Band, serving as Judge of Elections for Middletown Township 2-3 District, and as a Scout Leader with Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. In 1997, she proudly co-founded the Media Youth Wrestling Program alongside her husband Hank, creating opportunities for young athletes and families in the community.

Carol’s professional life reflected her creativity, work ethic, and caring nature. After graduating from cosmetology school, she became a licensed hair stylist, where she enjoyed connecting with people and helping others feel their best. She later pursued her creative talents as a florist, bringing beauty and joy to special moments in the lives of others. Carol then built a respected career in healthcare administration, serving as Billing Manager at Apria Healthcare and later as Physician Billing Supervisor at Main Line Health at Riddle Hospital, where she was known for her leadership, dedication, and compassion.

Carol had a special love for animals throughout her life. She found joy and comfort in the companionship of beloved dogs and cats, and anyone who knew her understood the tenderness she had for animals. Her home and heart were always open to them, and caring for them was one of the many ways she expressed her generous spirit.

Carol also found great happiness by the water. She loved the beach, was drawn to the peace and beauty of the ocean, and enjoyed traveling on cruises, where she made cherished memories with family and friends. The water brought her joy, serenity, and a sense of adventure that reflected her spirit.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ida Louise Newcomer (Talley) and Lamar Hoover Newcomer, and her brother, William Lamar Newcomer.

Above all, Carol cherished her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Henry C. Ternove; her daughter, Wendy L. Nearey (Craig) of Middletown Township; her son, Henry C. Ternove III (Kate) of Springfield; her three treasured grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Grant Nearey, and Declan Ternove, who brought immense joy to her life; her brother, John P. Newcomer; her sisters-in-law, Patricia M. Ternove and Denise S. Ternove; and her beloved nephews, John W. Newcomer, Matthew T. Newcomer, and Adrian Q. Ternove.

Carol will be remembered for her strength, kindness, generosity, unwavering love for her family, and the compassion she showed to both people and animals. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the community she helped build.
