Benner
Carl A., Sr. Age 93 of Marple, Passed away Sept 7th at the Sunrise of Newtown Square facility. Born in Clifton Heights, he graduated from Lansdowne High School class of 1945, where he participated on the school football team and track squad. Carl was a Third-Generation painter following in his father’s and grandfather's footsteps. Carl Sr. operated the family painting business until he reached the age of 75 and stepped back to let his son Carl, Jr. take over the business. He was a long-time member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church on Baltimore Pike in Clifton Heights, where he had served as the Rector Warden for approximately 25 years, sang with the church choir, participated in the bowling and softball leagues.
Carl was also a member of the Lansdowne Lodge, 711, F&AM, and went on to become a Lulu Shriner in the Plymouth Meeting Lodge.
He enjoyed playing tennis with family and friends. He also enjoyed saltwater fishing and boating out of Ocean City, New Jersey with his brothers.
Carl married Dorothy Ann Burnett in 1951, whom he had met and fell in love with at the Jersey Shore, she passed away on July 19, 2004, he is survived by his children, Carl A. (Debbie) Benner, Jr., Jeffrey Benner, and Susan Orzol, ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, He was predeceased by his siblings Mary Platt, John, Richard, and Walter Benner. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service, on Wednesday, Sept. 15th, at 11:00 AM in the Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008, where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Interment will be private for the family. Memorials may be sent in Carl’s name to the Donations to Parkinson's Council 12 W. Willowgrove Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118
