Byrl Walter Himelberger Jr

Byrl Himelberger, age 78, a longtime resident of Media, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 6, 2023. Byrl was a graduate of Upper Darby High School class of 1963 and enlisted into the Army Reserves after graduating Susquehanna University in 1967. Byrl worked for NCR for 3 years before joining his father as a manufacturer's representative which was a family business and he did so until his retirement. Bryl was an avid fan of sports, playing football and baseball in high school and college and he coached Babe Ruth baseball for Marple Newtown and girls and boys tennis at Upper Darby High School. He enjoyed watching his granddaughters' playing softball and baseball and you would see him in the stands cheering them on. Off the field he was a great coach, helping them hone their skills on the field. He loved his family and friends, emailing jokes and posting softball scores, sending music and photos of cats. Byrl was the son of the late Byrl Sr. and Ruth E. Himelberger and brother of the late Bruce Himelberger. Survivors: Wife Ruth W. (nee Widdoes) of 30 years, daughters Sandra Kenna (Thomas), Barbara Sorrentino (Michael) and his grandchildren, Lauren and Shelby Kenna, Kerri Stavola (Vincent), Michael Sorrentino and Rebecca Sorrentino, along with two great-grandchildren on the way. Visitation: Tuesday June 13, 2023 from 10:00am - 11:00am at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Road, Broomall, PA 19008 . Service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bryl's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org), 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
