Bryan Christopher Treude entered eternal life on September 27, 2025.
Bryan was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, on February 17, 1975. He attended St. Frances Cabrini grade school in Fairless Hills and Bishop Egan High School, where he served as class president and played varsity football and basketball. He was also a proud graduate of East Stroudsburg University. It was there that he met Pat Betzal, which he believed was the best thing that ever happened to him. Bryan and Pat married on St. Patrick’s Day, 2001, and together they raised Colin, Erin, and Casey in Springfield, Pennsylvania. Nothing made Bryan happier or prouder than his children.
Bryan worked for twenty-eight years in the hotel industry. He considered his coworkers at PM Hotel Group his work family, and they remember his sense of humor, his generosity, and his knack for hospitality. In his free time, Bryan loved rooting for Philadelphia sports teams (Charles Barkley being his all-time favorite), listening to Pearl Jam, eating cheese steaks and wings, hanging out at fire pits, and more than anything else, coaching his kids’ teams and watching them play their games. A faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Bryan was always ready to help with youth programs, often volunteering as a coach, organizer, or fundraiser for CYO or Springfield Athletics.
Bryan faced his cancer diagnosis bravely, undergoing treatment without complaint and with hope. When hope faded, he accepted death with grace and courage. In a final Facebook message, Bryan assured his friends and his family of his enduring love for them, his overwhelming gratitude for the life he had lived, and his deep trust in God’s plan for him.
Bryan was an easy person to look up to, and not just because he was six foot three. He will continue to tower in the memories and the hearts of those he leaves behind: his beloved Pat; his children Colin, Erin, and Casey; his father, Dennis Treude, Sr.; his sister, Jill Treude-Mosiondz (Doug); his brother Greg Treude (Jill); his niece and nephews Camryn and Trevor Mosiondz and Ben and Alex Treude; his brother-in-law Jack Betzal, Jr. (Steven Estremera); and his parents in-law Pat and Jack Betzal, Sr.
Bryan was preceded in death by his mother Barbara (Kampherstein) Treude, his brother Dennis Treude, Jr., and his sister-in-law Colleen Marie Betzal. Anticipating a grand reunion with loved ones gave him solace in his final days. He was also grateful to watch the Eagles play one last time. In a recorded video message, the Eagles’ Lane Johnson assured Bryan that they would be playing for him when they went up against the Rams on Sunday September 21—and after two blocked field goals and the largest comeback in the history of Lincoln Financial Field, they handed their biggest fan and all who love him a stunning victory. A few days later, Bryan watched a live-stream of Casey’s standout performance as Springfield High School defeated Lower Merion in volleyball. These twin victories offered a fitting capstone to the life of a Philadelphia sports fanatic, and a father who gloried in all of his children’s accomplishments, athletic and otherwise. These victories also presaged Bryan’s triumph over pain and suffering, and love’s ultimate victory over death. Now he cheers the rest of us on.
