Bonnie Cornwell Roberts Karabin passed from this world to heaven on January 14th 2025. She died peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of family and friends. The daughter of the late George and Norma Roberts. She is survived by her three brothers – Bud, Ralph, and Bruce. Bonnie was the confidante and beautiful wife of Gregory Karabin as well as the loving guide, model, and support for her four surviving sons – Geoffrey (Kristin), Timothy (Jenn), Daniel (Danielle), and Kevin (Michelle). She was also “Nan” to 11 her grandchildren.
Bonnie grew up in Armonk, NY where she attended Byron Hills high school. She graduated Lafyette College with a BA in Geology where she met and then married Greg. Their early life together took them, along with their new Gordon Setter Dobbie, to Lodi, OH. After moving back to Pennsylvania, Bonnie raised her four sons and became deeply integrated into the Downingtown community. In their 50 years of faithful marriage, Bonnie impacted her community as a Cub Scout mom, Pre-Canna leader, and rugby booster. Bonnie helped initiate the Bishop Shanahan Advancement Office and 17 years later retired as the Shanahan Fund Director.
Bonnie was a naturalist. As a geologist, ski patroller, and National Park guide she shared her love of the outdoors with her family. Her sons will forever remember adventures to Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the California Coast, and summers in Avalon NJ. On the sands of Avalon, she enjoyed her favored pastimes, including a good book, long walks, drip castles with the grandkids, the ocean, and cheering on her sons in lifeguard competitions.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation beginning at 10 AM on February 7, 2025 followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM at Sts. Philip and James Church in Exton, PA. Interment at a later date.
