Bertha "Bert" Theresa Organ, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026. Born on May 26, 1942, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Hugh James and Helen Adele (Hayes) Organ. Bert's life was characterized by her selfless nature, always putting others before herself.
Bert was a proud alumna of West Catholic Girls High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for her future. She carried the values of her education throughout her life, leading to a successful career in the insurance industry. Her professional achievements were matched by her commitment to her colleagues and clients, who often became friends.
Family was the cornerstone of Bert's life. She is survived by her loving sister Mary Organ; her sister Kathleen Chappelle, widow of the late Albert Chappelle; her siblings Eileen Organ and Daniel Organ and his wife, Anne; and was predeceased by her brother Hugh Organ. Bert was an adored aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Her joy was further multiplied by her great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews, who all cherished their "Aunt Bert."
Bert's interests and hobbies were as diverse as they were passionate. She adored cats and could often be found with a feline companion by her side. A die-hard Phillies fan, she never missed a game and her enthusiasm for her team was infectious. Bert also reveled in the excitement of NASCAR, always eager to discuss the latest race. An avid reader, she found solace and adventure within the pages of her beloved books. Her competitive spirit shone through in her love for pinochle and bowling, where she was a valued member of the Good Shepherd AA league.
Bert's found memory of travel to Disney World held a special place in her heart. The magic and wonder of the theme park reflected the joy and enthusiasm with which she approached life.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at St. Philomena Catholic Church, 41 E. Baltimore Avenue, Lansdowne, PA 19050. A Funeral Mass will follow in the church. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
