Beatrix R. Baker

In the early morning hours of June 8, 2023, Beatrix Baker departed this world to live in the glory of her Heavenly Father.

Born Beatrix Catherine Rickert on May 1, 1937 in Queens, New York, “Trixie” was the daughter of Harry and Catherine Rickert. Following her father’s untimely passing, the family relocated to her mother’s native Lancaster. There Trixie and her two elder sisters, Anita and Carolyn, grew up in the care of their mother and two great-aunts.

Trixie graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1955. She went on to study at Pennsylvania State University before pursuing a degree in elementary education at Millersville State Teachers College. There she met Paul Baker. They wed in 1959 and were married until 1972, having five children over the course of their marriage: Patrick, Michael, Theresa, Stephen, and George.

Trixie had a long career in education. She taught fifth grade at Rose Tree School District in Delaware County, worked as a substitute teacher throughout Chester and Montgomery Counties, and eventually became Literature Coordinator at Tozour Trane, where she remained until her retirement in 1999.

A longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s in Chester Springs, Trixie was a lifelong Catholic of profound devotion and love for her Savior.

In 2017, due to progression of Alzheimer’s disease, Trixie moved into St. Martha Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Downingtown, where she was well-loved by residents and staff alike.

She will be dearly missed by her family—Pat and Debra, Mike and Johnna, Theresa and Joe, Steve, and George and Kathleen—twenty-three grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
