Barry Neil Curran, 90, formerly of New Haven, Connecticut, died peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Paoli Hospital while in hospice care.
Born in 1935 in New Haven, Connecticut, Barry was the beloved husband of the late Peggy Linahan Curran, who passed away in 2019. Together, they shared a remarkable life full of love, laughter, and family. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Joseph Curran, in 2017. Barry was a dedicated father to his daughter, Courtney (William), and was cherished by his grandchildren, William Curran and Emma Rose. Barry is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Barry had a love for learning. He graduated from Fairfield Preparatory School and College of the Holy Cross. Barry went on to earn graduate degrees from Fairfield University and Trinity College, and a PhD in English Literature from Fordham University. Barry shared his love of learning with students in the Connecticut Community College system, specifically at Tunxis Community College and Housatonic Community College, where he was the Director of the Learning Center.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Morningside House and Paoli Hospital for their care and compassion during his final days.
