Barbara F. Young (nee Morehead), 103, of White Horse Village, formally of Meadowbrook, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022. Barbara was the wife of the late Ralph Young, and John B. Ferguson, Jr., and the daughter of the late George L. and Bessie (nee Stevens) Morehead.
Survivors: Her children: Dr. John B. (Jinny) Ferguson, III of DE, Sue F. (Drew) Ermelin of FL, and Elizabeth F. (Jeremy) Rocha of ME; 5 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Barbara was born in Indianapolis, IN and grew up in Elkins Park, PA. She graduated from Cheltenham HS and attended Swarthmore College, graduating in 1941, where she met her first husband, John B. Ferguson, Jr. Barbara and John raised their children in Meadowbrook, PA. In 1996 they moved to White Horse Village in Newtown Square, PA, and lived there together until John’s death in 2002. In 2007 Barbara married Ralph Young. Throughout her life Barbara was active in community work, including the Jenkintown Day Nursery and a local garden club. At White Horse Village, Barbara was president of the Residents Council and the Landscape Committee. Barbara loved to read, play bridge, golf, and garden. Her favorite times were when she was with her family. Her generous and loving spirit was evident to all and will be missed.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 10:00 am, at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, located at 727 Havard Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
Burial: Private.
