Barbara Wilson Obituary

Barbara (née Grugan) Wilson, beloved wife of the late John C. Wilson, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on April 18, 1938, in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Edwin L. and Helen B. (née Gill) Grugan. Her love story with John began in second grade, and they never dated anyone else. In 1959, they married and built a beautiful life together, raising four children: Karen Wilson Scheuermann (Carl), Susan Wilson Monard (Phillip), Barbara Wilson Cona (Michael), and John Charles Wilson, Jr. (Marybeth).

Barbara graduated from West Catholic Girls’ High School in 1956. After dedicating herself to raising her children, she worked in the guidance offices of the Lower Merion School District. Later, she joined John as the office administrator for Wilson Home Inspectors, where they worked side by side.

Barbara was known for her deep faith and her selfless dedication to others. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a devoted member of her Bible study group, and regularly visited the homebound to offer communion. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering compassion left a lasting impact on countless lives.

In later years, after their children married, John and Barbara traveled the world together, embarking on many adventures. Yet, their greatest joys were always their family and their faith. They treasured time spent with their 15 grandchildren: Michael, Brian (Stephanie), Daniel (Maria), Christopher, Laura (Sam), Matthew, Kevin, Sarah, Courtney, Katie, Julia, Emma, Jack, Luke, and Andrew. They delighted in welcoming the next generation, their great-grandchildren: Isabella, Jude, Rafael and Costas.

Barbara was predeceased by her sisters Regina G. McCann and Suzanne Grugan. She is survived by her siblings Charles (Eileen) Grugan and Helen G. (Bill) Hunter, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. To all who knew her, Barbara was the epitome of love, faith, and family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
