Obituary

Barbara Kirk Scheppman, 94, resident of Newtown Square, and formerly of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Robert Scheppman, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. In a fateful coincidence of togetherness, they were both gifted life on earth for exactly 34,368 days.

She was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania on April 16, 1929, to Francis and J. Howard Kirk. Barbara was a proud direct descendant of John Kirk of Derbyshire, who was an early settler with William Penn, settling in Darby, Pennsylvania in 1687 and named for the town of origin.

Predeceased by her siblings Sylvia Codrick, and Jeanne Nye, Barbara is survived by her children Carol Scheppman of Media, Judy Cruice (Kevin) of West Chester, Leigh Ann Concha (Jose) of Saint Augustine and Kirk Scheppman of Springfield. She was loved by her grandchildren Emily Cruice, Bryn, Marley, and Penelope Concha.

Barbara spent her working years in an administrative role at Smith Kline, and later with a local insurance agency.

Barbara enjoyed knitting, crafts, golf, and her bridge group.  She found pleasure in playing Wordle and accessing her computer for daily updates. She also enjoyed many hours keeping up their colonial farm house built in 1740 and her summer home in Ocean City, NJ. A talented cook, Barbara enjoyed hosting dinners with family and friends. During the winter months, Barbara and Bob spent time visiting their daughter and family in Saint Augustine, as well as friends in other towns across Florida. But most of all, Barbara thoroughly enjoyed making memories raising her family in Springfield, Pennsylvania and spending the summers with friends and loved ones in Ocean City.

Services to celebrate the lives of both Barbara and Bob will be held at a time to be scheduled for later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara has requested that donations be made to a charity of
your choice.
