Barbara A. (O'Connell) McCloskey

Barbara A. O'Connell McCloskey, age 81, of Newtown Square and formerly of Drexel Hill, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Leo A. McCloskey, Jr. She was the loving mother to Leo (Karin) of Sammamish, WA, Michael (Connie) of Broomall, Tom (Julie) of Kennett Square, Sally of Littleton, CO, Kevin (Carolyn) of West Chester, and Megan (Nigel) of Villanova; devoted sister to Mary Lou O'Connell Newby (Jack) and twin sister to Robert ("Bob") O'Connell (Fran). "Marmie" was the ever-present and doting grandmother to her 18 grandchildren and the vivacious "Aunt Barbara" or "Babs" to 25 nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a woman who gave so much love and prided herself on her family, friends, and community. Originally from Yeadon, she was a proud alumna of Holy Child Academy in Sharon Hill. She loved being a parishioner of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Drexel Hill for almost 60 years. As an avid sports fan, particularly basketball, she took great enjoyment in kids of all ages having fun and was an active St. Andrew's CYO member for many years.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Friday, January 17th, 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Havertown. Family and friends may pay respects in the Church from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in her honor may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
