Audrey Joan Peters, 63, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 3, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home in Broomall, PA.
Born January 12, 1960, in Mineola, NY to Margaret and Edward Rzeszut, Audrey was the youngest of her three sisters. She graduated from Mineola High School in 1978. She then received her BS in Biology from Adelphi University in 1982. She had a successful career in accounting and held titles such as Accountant, Controller, and Director of Administration.
In a love story that felt fit for the big screen, Audrey was on a trip to the island of Jamaica with her best friend Colette when she met her future other half, Alfred Peters, who happened to be on the trip with his best friend, Jim. Love was in the air and Audrey and Al were married on June 30, 1984 and their best friends were married two weeks later. Audrey and Al were soon blessed with two children, Brian and Katie, the other loves of their life.
Audrey’s happiest moments were spent supporting her children on the sidelines as their biggest cheerleader. This extended beyond sports, with unwavering support in various aspects of life. She was the epitome of a wonderful and devoted mother who supported her children in everything they did, and always placed her family at the center of her life.
Audrey was known for her generosity and her fierce love for her children and especially grandchildren. She retired from her successful career to be a full-time “Mimi” when her first granddaughter was born. She cherished every moment with her 6 grandchildren, Clare, Cate, Charlotte, Brooke, Brynne, and Henry. Her grandchildren knew Mimi was there to kiss every boo-boo and spoil them with her love.
Audrey is predeceased by her brother, John, and her father, Edward Rzeszut. She is survived by her loving spouse of 39 years, Al Peters, her children Brian (Courtney) Peters and Katie (John) Boyle, as well as her six grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Rzeszut, and three sisters Jeannie (Kevin) McHenry, Phyllis (Ronald) Nowakowski, and Gail (Michael) Zeltmann, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 10:30am at Saint Anastasia (3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073), with a time for visitation starting at 9:30am.
In line with her giving and selfless spirit, Audrey’s favorite holiday was Christmas, making the season magical for her family year after year. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that close friends and family members send Al, Brian, or Katie a Christmas ornament that reminds you of Audrey, along with a note sharing why you chose the ornament. We will share these stories with her grandchildren and they will bring us much joy for years to come.
