Anne Cronin Obituary

Anne Allen Cronin, 98, a third-generation Floridian, passed away on October 10, 2025. Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Anne came from a family rooted in both faith and innovation. Her maternal grandfather was a Methodist minister, and her paternal grandfather invented the Allen Picking Bag, widely used across Florida for harvesting oranges and grapefruit.

Anne attended Florida State College for Women, which later became Florida State University. She was a member of FSU's first graduating class and served as president of the Pi Beta Phi sorority during her senior year. Upon graduation, she married John Cronin, beginning a partnership that would last a lifetime.

A devoted wife and mother, Anne was known for her kindness and positivity, never one to speak ill of anyone. She embraced her role as a homemaker with pride and raised three children with deep love and care. As a young Navy wife during the Korean War and later the spouse of a Navy admiral, she exemplified grace and dedication, often described as the perfect Admiral’s lady.

Anne was an active member of Wayne United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years and served as president of several women’s organizations during that time. She was a long-time member of the Junior Service Board and led the organization as president from 2006 to 2009. She was also a member of the St. Davids Golf Club and the Martins Dam Club.

Anne and John shared a passion for travel, exploring the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. In later years, they split their time between their homes in Radnor, PA, and their condo in Key Biscayne, FL.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Cronin. She is survived by their children: William D., Jeanette L. (Bob), and Robert M. She also leaves behind her granddaughter Jamie C. O’Brien, and her great-granddaughters Kaeden and Kamren O’Brien.

Funeral services and interment are private.

Memorial donations may be made in Anne’s name to White Horse Village Employee Funds, 535 Gradyville Rd., Newtown Square, PA 19073.
