Alma C. (née Oakes) Clark, 94, of Newtown Square, passed away peacefully in Bryn Mawr Hospital on Saturday, March 11th, 2023. She was the devoted wife of the late William "Bill" Glover Clark, Jr.
Born in Chester Hospital on November 27th, 1928 but raised in Lima, she was a daughter of the late John I. and Alma (née Carr) Oakes. She graduated from Media High School and at a young age, went to work for Bell Telephone in Narberth/Ardmore. Once Alma and Bill married, she stayed at home to raise her three diabetic children. As Bill was politically active locally, Alma supported him and was a member of the Republican Women of Newtown Square.
Surviving Alma is her daughter, Patricia L. (née Clark) Kropiewnicki and her husband, Mark of Newtown Square; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a brother, Robert "Bob" Oakes in Brazil.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Bill; Alma is predeceased by two children, Deborah L. (née Clark) Hayden and William G. Clark, V; one grandchild, W. Travis Hayden and three siblings, Doris (née Oakes) Harrison, Vincent Oakes and John "Jack" I. Oakes, Jr.
A funeral mass will be said on Saturday, May 27th, 2023 at 10:30am in St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Family and friends will gather in the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15am. Alma will be laid to rest at a later date beside Bill in Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
