Alice Theresa Carlin

Alice Theresa Carlin (nee McHugh), affectionately known as Alice to all who knew her, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on December 5, 2024, in Newtown Square, PA. Born on January 6, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, she was a beacon of light and joy throughout her 79 years.

The daughter of the late John F. and Alice M. (Scally) McHugh, Alice grew up in a lively household, the beloved wife of William J. Carlin. She was predeceased by her sisters, Bernadette M. Whalen and Maureen P. McHugh and leaves behind her sisters Geraldine Hamilton and Sarah North as well as her brothers-in-law, Robert “Bob” F. Whalen and Gregory T. North. She was a devoted aunt to Edward Hamilton and his wife, Beverly and their children, Ethan and Simon. Mark and Patricia Lonesky and their child, Sean. Peter and Mary Thompson and their children Peter and Lauren.  

Alice was a proud alumna of West Catholic Girls High School, where she received an education that would serve as the foundation for her strong work ethic and commitment to service. Her career spanned almost 50 years in administration and clerical roles at the former Misericordia Hospital in Philadelphia, now known as Mercy Hospital. Alice's dedication and warm presence left a lasting impression on both her colleagues and those she served.

While Alice's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her legacy of kindness, compassion, generosity and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her gentle smile, her generous ways, and her unfailing ability to see the good in others will be remembered and celebrated by friends and family alike.

The viewing will be held Dec. 11, 2024, from 6 – 8:00 PM at Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008. Mass will be held Dec 12, 2024, 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Rd., Broomall, PA 19008 followed by interment at Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alice’s name may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 5300 Chester Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143.
