Aleta Provence

Aleta Provence passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 12,2025 one day before her 98th birthday.   Born in West Chester, PA, she graduated from St. Agnes nursing school in Philadelphia where she met her loving husband, John.  A devoted wife to her husband Jack and devoted mother to her six children, Aleta always put her family first, before herself. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can all attest to that!  Her nursing career extended over many decades. She worked at multiple hospitals and with her “master's degree” in Nursing from West Chester University she ended her career as a school nurse at John Bartram/Tilden school in Philadelphia.  She had a long deep connection to the Catholic Church and was a member of the third order Franciscans. She started her own “Red Hat” chapter in the Delaware County area and was a member of the Saint Agnes Nursing Alumni. She spent her summers down at the Jersey shore and loved going to the casinos and eating her sweets especially ice cream.   She loved playing cards with her family and friends, playing games with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a loving and caring person who will truly be missed.

Devoted wife to the late John Provence, loving Mother of the late Anne (Tom) Culp, the late Aleta (Joe) Reed, Betsy (Jim) Mellon, Jack (Stephanie) Provence, Daniel (Frances) Provence, Michael (Tina) Provence. Grandmother to 18 beautiful grandchildren and 24 beautiful great grandchildren.

Please join Aleta"s family in celebrating her life on Tuesday March 18, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3255 Concord Rd. Aston Pa 19014. Viewing and Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00am.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Flower Manor, 201 Springfield Rd. Darby PA 19023
