Alene D McLoughlin

Alene Darr McLoughlin (née Masson) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones in her Eagle Road home of over 50 years. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield and passionate about her community. Many recognize her as a friendly face behind the counter at Victory Cleaners where she started as a Springfield High School student (class of ‘69). Her role grew over the decades to running the operations until her retirement in 2019. While raising her 3 beautiful children and 6 fantastic grandchildren took up most of her free time, she still found the opportunities to work on her golf handicap and bake award-winning apple pies. She will always be remembered for her huge heart, incredible wit, and unparalleled Scrabble skills. 

Alene is survived by: her son Ian McLoughlin and his wife, Amy; her daughters Lauren McLoughlin and Katie (McLoughlin) McCallum, and her husband, Jared; her grandchildren Anna, Luke, Kendall, Kellen, Jocelyn, and Charlotte; her sister Jacqueline (Masson) Hefelfinger; her brother Tom Masson and his wife, Kim; and many nieces and nephews. 

A memorial will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 Lynbrooke Road, Springfield, on Friday, May 19.  The family will be receiving guests at 10am, and services will be held at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity dear to her heart: Philly Cure HD, 2815 Edge Hill Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pa 19006.  https://www.mygiving.net/donate/Support-Philly-Cure-HD-Now
