Adrienne Stelzer Smith, 86, formerly of Chester Springs, PA, Avalon and Atlantic City, NJ, and Lewes, DE passed away peacefully at Paoli Hospital with family by her side on October 7, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick R. Smith, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage at his time of passing in November 2011.
Adrienne was born and raised in Philadelphia and later made a home in Exton, PA, in the early 1960's. She had a love for simple joys that spoke to her creativity and spirit-from sketching in charcoal and pencil as a young girl to being an avid roller skater. As the years went by, Adrienne found joy in life's shared moments, fishing and crabbing alongside her husband, Fred, and cheering on the Phillies and Eagles. She loved playing Rummikub endlessly with family. She had a gift for baking, crafting treats including her famous Maple Walnut, Banana Daiquiri, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecakes, Pistachio Ice Cream Cake, and irresistible Apple Pies. Adrienne loved the shore, where she found joy walking along the beaches and boardwalk, playing horseshoes on the sand, playing in the ocean waves. She enjoyed fun adventures at A.C.'s Tropicana, where she would spend time with family and friends, dining, catching shows, and trying her luck at the slots.
Adrienne completed basic training in the United States Air Force, from which she was Honorably Discharged. She enjoyed many years waitressing at the Black Angus in Ludwig's Corner and Busch's in Sea Isle City, NJ, where she had regulars that waited in line to have a seat at one of her tables. She founded Cheesecakes by Adrienne, providing beloved cheesecakes to local restaurants in Stone Harbor, Avalon, and Cape May, NJ. Adrienne's kindness extended far beyond her work - she spent cherished time volunteering with the Sisters at Villa St. John and opened her heart and home to low-income children from New York City, offering them the joy of summer days at the Pennypackers Country Club and the Jersey Shore. Adrienne's warmth and kindness will be remembered by many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Adrienne is survived by her children, Robert Bauder, Kathleen Stelzer, Thomas Stelzer, Linda Stelzer Crawford, John Charles Smith, Mark and Keith Smith, Dana Ezell, and Erin Sincavage, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her nephews. In addition to her husband, Fred, she was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Povilaitis, and her nephew Billy Povilaitis.
Family and friends are invited to a Christian Memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Calvary Chapel Church, 217 Dowlin Forge Road, Exton, PA 19341. Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. until the service begins.
